“We are in for a very difficult 2009…but there are two things you should not stop doing, one is marketing and networking and secondly, don’t cut the training budget. You can’t come out of a recession without skilled people. Keep training people so we are ready for the upturn.”
Lord Digby Jones, former Director General, CBI (Dec 2008)
“Now is precisely the time to keep investing in the skills and talents of our people. It is the people we employ who will get us through. When markets are shrinking and order books falling, it is their commitment, productivity and ability to add value that will keep us competitive.”
Sir Mike Rake, BT, Sir Stuart Rose, Marks & Spencer, Richard Lambert, CBI, Brendan Barber, TUC (Nov 2008)
